Christian ministry has never been easy, but it seems even more difficult today as society, technology, and ideas are rapidly changing. But the basic principles of Christian service havent changed, says Warren Wiersbe. In On Being a Servant of God, he makes profoundly simple the basic principles of serving others in Gods name, a service he calls "the greatest work in the world.-

Wiersbe helps readers realize that the key to growing and maintaining their spiritual effectiveness is to build their Christian character. In a warm and conversational style, the author explains what to do and how readers can evaluate what theyre doing when they pursue the service of God.

The Cross of Christ

W. Stott
Binding: Hardcover
List price: $25.00 USD

Book Description
"I could never myself believe in God, if it were not for the cross . . . In the real world of pain, how could one worship a God who was immune to it?" With compelling honesty John Stott confronts this generation with the centrality of the cross in God's redemption of the world -- a world now haunted by the memories of Auschwitz, the pain of oppression and the specter of nuclear war.

Can we see triumph in tragedy, victory in shame? Why should an object of Roman distaste and Jewish disgust be the emblem of our worship and the axiom of our faith? And what does it mean for us today?

When The Universe Next Door was first introduced nearly thirty years ago, it set the standard for a clear, readable introduction to worldviews. In concise, easily understood prose, James W. Sire explained the basics of theism, deism, naturalism, nihilism, existentialism, Eastern monism and the new consciousness. The second edition was updated and expanded to include sections on Marxism and secular humanism, as well as a completely reworked chapter on what is now widely known as New Age philosophy rather than new consciousness. And the third edition offered further updating and revisions, including a thoroughly revised chapter on New Age philosophy and, perhaps most importantly, a new chapter on postmodernism.

Scripture reveals that the great business of life is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever. In this paradigm-shattering classic, newly revised and expanded, John Piper reveals that the debate between duty and delight doesn't truly exist: Delight is our duty. Readers will embark on a dramatically different and joyful experience of their faith

Total Truth: Liberating Christianity from Its Cultural Captivity

Pearcey
Binding: Hardcover
List price: $25.00 USD

Book Description
Does God belong in the public arena of politics, business, law, and education? Or is religion a private matter only--personally comforting but publicly irrelevant? In today's cultural etiquette, it is not considered polite to mix public and private, or sacred and secular. This division is the single most potent force keeping Christianity contained in the private sphere--stripping it of its power to challenge and redeem the whole of culture.

In Total Truth, Nancy Pearcey offers a razor-sharp analysis of the public/private split, explaining how it hamstrings our efforts at both personal and cultural renewal. Ultimately it reflects a division in the concept of truth itself, which functions as a gatekeeper, ruling Christian principles out of bounds in the public arena.

“The scandal of the evangelical mind is that there is not much of an evangelical mind.” So begins this award-winning intellectual history and critique of the evangelical movement by one of evangelicalism’s most respected historians.

Unsparing in his judgment, Mark Noll ask why the largest single group of religious Americans—who enjoy increasing wealth, status, and political influence—have contributed so little to rigorous intellectual scholarship in North America. In nourishing believers in the simple truths of the gospel, why have evangelicals failed at sustaining a serious intellectual life and abandoned the universities, the arts, and other realms of “high” culture?

Johnson (Marseilles, Illinois, USA)
At the end of his long and distinguished career, the famous British preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-92) found himself locked in a battle with the Baptist Union over its decreasing attachment to scripture, and increasing acceptance of error and sin. And now, more than one hundred years later, Dr. John MacArthur, of Grace Community Church and the Grace to You radio ministry, finds himself being forced into the same battle against scriptural infidelity and pragmatism in the American Evangelical church. With piercing analysis and voluminous use of scripture, he attacks this not-altogether new trend in the Evangelical church.

Darwin on Trial

Johnson
Binding: Paperback
List price: $16.00 USD
Amazon price: $10.88 USD

From Publishers Weekly
In his own era, Darwin's most formidable opponents were fossil experts, not clergymen. Even today, according to the author, the fossil record, far from conclusive, does not support the presumed existence of intermediate links between species. A law teacher at UC-Berkeley, Johnson deems unpersuasive the alleged proofs for Darwin's assertion that natural selection can produce new species. He also argues that recent molecular studies of DNA fail to confirm the existence of common ancestors for different species. Doubting the smooth line of transitional steps between apes and humans sketched by neo-Darwinists, he cites evidence for "rapid branching," i.e., mysterious leaps which presumably produced the human mind and spirit from animal materials. This evidence, to Johnson, suggests that "the putative hominid species" may not have contained our ancestors after all. This cogent, succinct inquiry cuts like a knife through neo-Darwinist assumptions.

Prophetic Untimeliness: A Challenge to the Idol of Relevance

An immensely thoughtful and provocative book, challenging some trends in our Christian culture and inviting us to reconsider and rediscover. A powerful read. --Alister McGrath

Prophetic Untimeliness brings a timely warning. The temptation to dress the faith in todays fashion guarantees that it will look out-of-style tomorrow only the eternal can reach every time and culture. --Frederica Mathewes-Green

Never have Christians tried to be so relevant. But never have Christians ended up so irrelevant. How can this be? The problem, says Os Guinness, is that our views of relevance and our efforts to redefine ourselves are captive to the seductions and pressures of our modern clock culture. Ironically, we end up as neither relevant nor faithful. And in the process we are in danger of losing not only our identity but our authority, our significance, and even our very soul.

Does God have a perfect will for each Christian? Does it matter? Can you be absolutely sure of God's individual will for your life? In an easy-to-follow narrative style, Gary Friesen examines the prevalent views on God's will today, then rejects them to propose a different view that he believes more accurately reflects biblical teaching. This rerelease of Decision Making takes up the practical issues of choosing a mate, picking a career, giving of one's resources, and areas of disagreement between Christians to give readers a new approach to knowing the will of God.
